Centro Campesino proclaims "No More Raids!"

With great joy we applause the demonstration held in Austin Minnesota on Sunday December 17th. Residents and members of Centro Campesino organized for two weeks to meet and see what the response to these raids was going to be like. Community members created a committee of highly committed people that did so much work from education, letter signing, location of victims to provide them assistance and the preparation of a public response.

On Sunday December 17th, close to 250 Austin community members took over Main Street and demonstrated calling for "an immediate stop on all raids and deportations," and the passage of a fair immigration reform that unifies families. "Moratorium on Deportations" was a loud sound in downtown Austin as the large crowd of supporters march on Main Street. The community showed how we will not stop demonstrating, working, and fighting until a real solution to this dilemma is reached. The real solution is the legalization of all immigrants and hardworking people that contribute to this country.

We congratulate the Austin community for being so brave and for having the courage to come out to the streets and show that they are still strong and committed to change. We thank all the allies and friends that came from the cities and other towns across Minnesota to work with us on this historic demonstration in Austin. The movement for immigration reform is alive and getting stronger as people in different communities reach a level of awareness that remains them that these hard times are not times to be afraid, but times to unite as one community.

Let's keep working together to stop injustice and create change.
