Dear Activists,
American workers need your social media activism today. Please contact the Senate Finance Committee members. Their Facebook & Twitter links are listed below.
You are seeing this alert because one of your US Senators in on the Finance Committee. If you would like to keep receiving social media alerts, click here and we will put you on the list.
Tomorrow, the Senate Finance Committee will mark up a bill that would grant Pres. Obama full negotiating authority over the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade agreement. Should the Committee and both chambers of Congress pass “fast-track” legislation, Pres. Obama, and future presidents, can ram through international trade agreements that expand guest worker programs without any public debate.
Former Pres. George W. Bush took full advantage of fast-track trade authority. His Administration secretly negotiated trade agreements that guaranteed the opportunity for other countries to send certain numbers of their workers to take U.S. jobs. Congress was not allowed to amend the agreements in any way. It either had to approve the whole thing or reject it with a simple up or own vote, which is why we must urge Congress to oppose fast-track!
Will the Senate Finance Committee vote to give away U.S. jobs?
You can read more about fast-track and NumbersUSA’s position in Roy’s blog. https://www.numbersusa.com/…/we-join-unions-environmentalis…
Suggested post: I urge the Senator not to give up Congress’ authority over immigration and vote NO to granting Pres. Obama fast-track trade authority.
