Cabdriver killed in pileup on I-494
A Minneapolis cabdriver was killed early Monday when an unlicensed motorist ran out of gas in his minivan on a southwest metro interstate, triggering a multi-vehicle pileup, authorities said.
Corona was driving on a revoked license and was booked into the Hennepin County jail, Roeske said.
A federal immigration official spoke to him briefly after he was booked and an “immigration detainer” was placed on him, meaning federal authorities intend to talk to him further, said Shawn Neudauer, spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the Twin Cities.
Court records show Corona has been cited at least seven times in Minnesota for driving without a valid license since 2005, along with other traffic violations.
Roeske said the patrol typically doesn’t jail someone for driving on a revoked license, but added that Corona was jailed in this case “primarily due to his record and lack of proper ID.”
“We wanted him booked to establish positive ID in case he is charged with a more serious crime,” he said.

Dallas Police Found 15 Assault Rifles in a Suspected Illegal Immigrant’s Car Yesterday
Yesterday afternoon at around 3 p.m., Dallas police were sent to check out a silver Pontiac sedan parked suspiciously in an Oak Cliff alley. Officers waited for the driver to pull away, then performed a traffic stop on the 2400 block of Brooklyn Avenue after the car made an illegal turn.

Police arrested the driver, 24-year-old Jesus Gonzalez, for driving without a license and not wearing a seat belt. But a search of the vehicle turned up something not commonly found during routine traffic stops: 15 AK-style assault rifles.

Police suspect Gonzalez is in the country illegally. He was taken to Dallas County jail where he is being detained at the request of DPD. He has not yet been formally charged.
Police spokeswoman Sherri Jeffrey said the department has no information on how Gonzalez came to be in possession of such a large number of assault weapons, where they came from, or what he planned to do with them.

Sheriff Joe Captures Armed Human Smugglers Heading for Eastern States
Maricopa County, AZ Sheriff Joe Arpaio may be facing an onslaught of negative ads and out-of-state activists funded by leftist billionaire George Soros bent on his defeat, but it isn’t stopping him from doing his job.

Sheriff Joe’s deputies captured 11 illegal aliens and three U.S. citizens smuggling them into the country during a traffic stop – the kind that the Obama Administration and ACLU want to stop him from performing so illegals can go free. Two of the three smugglers were armed with semi-automatic weapons and have extensive criminal records, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said.

7 arrested, over $100K of marijuana seized in vehicle stop

Seven people were apprehended and more than $100,000 of marijuana was seized early Sunday after an Arizona Department of Public Safety officer stopped a vehicle near Maricopa and evaded a truck that tried to ram him, a spokesman says.

The attempted police car ramming by the driver of a Nissan pick-up truck appears to be a tactic in the drug war, said DPS spokesman Bart Graves. The Nissan and a second truck seemed to be trying to distract the officer from discovering a half dozen bales of marijuana in a third car, a Cadillac Escalade, Graves said.

Officers were still searching for the Nissan truck driver, who fled the scene with others, Graves said.

Border apprehensions up by 50 percent in South Texas

Brooks County reports record year for immigrant deaths

FALFURRIAS, Texas -
The number of illegal immigrant apprehensions in South Texas has increased by 50 percent, according to Henry Mendiola Jr., spokesman for the Rio Grande Valley sector of U.S. Border Patrol.

Mendiola said preliminary figures through last August show approximately 89,000 people were detained, compared to 59,243 in 2011.

The higher numbers also are reflected in the 150 percent increase in immigrant deaths — from dehydration or heat stroke in remote areas or drownings in the Rio Grande, Mendiola said.

In Brooks County alone, about 85 miles from the border, Sheriff Rey Rodriguez said it has been a “terrible year,” with 112 bodies recovered — the highest yet. He said last year, the remains of 64 people were recovered.

Rodriguez said many immigrants are aware of the risks through Spanish-language media campaigns.

TUCSON, Ariz. – A Mexican man pleaded guilty Tuesday in the killing of a U.S. Border Patrol agent during a 2010 firefight near the Arizona-Mexico border.
The first-degree murder plea on Tuesday by Manuel Osorio-Arellanes, of El Fuerte in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, marks the first conviction in the December 2010 death of Agent Brian Terry.
Osorio-Arellanes faces up to life in prison.
Two rifles bought by a gun-smuggling ring that was being monitored by the government’s botched investigation known as “Operation Fast and Furious” were found at the shooting scene.
Authorities have declined to say whether the murder weapon was linked to an Operation Fast and Furious purchase.

CORPUS CHRISTI —State Rep. Raul Torres wants the death penalty for terrorists and
drug traffickers that harm U.S. citizens and to treat cartel activities on American soil as acts of war.
The Republican candidate for state Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa’s seat, which includes a chunk of Hidalgo County in the Rio Grande Valley, said in a mass email the federal government has failed to secure the border with Mexico and more is needed to safeguard American lives.
Torres’ spokesman, Christian Anderson, on Thursday said the Corpus Christi Republican believes border law enforcement agencies will benefit from having the death penalty to use as a deterrent on the border.
“(Representative Torres) believes that average law enforcement is outgunned and outmanned by drug cartels and other terror groups,” Anderson said. “Expanding the use of the death penalty for these types of crimes will give law enforcement another much needed tool to secure our border.”

This video is proof the border is not secure and more dangerous than ever. Drug cartels practically own entire sections of the Arizona desert and have spotters on hills and mountains so they can alert their drug and human smugglers to any potential problems.

Lawmaker urges feds to monitor Hezbollah in Mexico

The presidential campaign has featured plenty of talk about terrorism in the Middle East, but one lawmaker is warning that the federal government is ignoring a growing Hezbollah presence in Mexico, with the Lebanese terror group increasingly joining forces with drug cartels.

One report shows hundreds of thousands of Middle Easterners living in Mexico, and a small percentage of them may be radicals using routes established by drug networks to sneak into the U.S.

The ties linking Mexico to Islamic terrorism were underscored earlier this year when an alleged Iranian operative plotted to assassinate a Saudi diplomat in Washington using a hired gun on loan from a Mexican drug cartel. Rep. Sue Myrick (R-N.C.) says the mounting evidence of a Hezbollah presence in Mexico is being ignored by the Department of Homeland Security.

“I don’t have a lot of faith in the Department of Homeland Security,” said Myrick. “They should be looking at these groups in Mexico much more closely.”

“I don’t have a lot of faith in the Department of Homeland Security. They should be looking at these groups in Mexico much more closely.”

- Rep. Sue Myrick (R-N.C.)

The incidents fueling Myrick’s frustration include the Oct. 17 guilty plea in Manhattan Federal Court of a suspect plotting to pay $1.5 million to a suspected hitman for the Los Zetas Cartel, who was actually a DEA informant, to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the U.S. by bombing a busy Washington, D.C., restaurant the ambassador frequents.

WYOMING, Mich. (AP) — A decision to deny Michigan driver’s licenses to immigrants granted work permits under President Barack Obama’s deferred-action program has sparked a protest. About 300 people protested outside a Secretary of State branch office Wednesday in the Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming.
Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson issued a decree to branch workers earlier this month. Her office says it is taking direction from the federal government about whether immigrants are legal. Obama and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced the “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” program in June and the first approvals came in September.
The program provides work permits and Social Security cards to young people brought to the U.S. without legal permission.

Study: Shortage of skilled workers vastly overstated
a new report

Conducted by the Boston Consulting Group, the study indicates that a “skills gap” indeed exists but that it’s not nearly large enough to spur panic or broad policy changes. The U.S. manufacturing industry is short roughly 80,000 to 100,000 highly skilled workers, according to the research, but that represents less than 1 percent of the American manufacturing industry’s total workforce.
Moreover, a severe gap was found in only seven states, six of which fall in the bottom quartile in terms of annual manufacturing output.

Illegal Immigration Comes Roaring Back — Here’s why.

Roy’s Quoted in USA Today; Also, Our Financial Support of ICE Lawsuit Discussed in Business Week

Please donate today or click https://www.numbersusa.com/donate

Dear Stephen,

Obviously, the drop in illegal immigration was too good to last! After the crash of 2008, thousands of illegal aliens returned to their home countries because they, like millions of Americans, lost their jobs here. Fewer would-be illegal aliens risked the uncertain trip to sneak into the country. Illegal immigration began dropping.

Now, however, with a slightly improving economy and with the open-arms welcome of the current administration, a just-released study finds illegal border crossings are back up.

We’ve got to fight back. We ARE fighting back. Read what Roy said in a USA Today article Friday:

“Illegal immigration is a market indicator,’ said Roy Beck, CEO of NumbersUSA, an Arlington, Va.-based think tank that advocates lower levels of legal and illegal immigration. ‘They all got gigantic networks of family and friends who are already here sending information back and forth.’ “

Yet Roy lays much of the blame for the illegal immigration surge at a political door. USA Today continues:

“Beck said the renewed rise in illegal immigration is due partly to President Obama’s immigration record. He said a new program that could allow up to 1.8 million illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to have their deportations deferred sends a signal that the border remains open.

” ‘The word has gone out that this administration is going to do all it can to keep you from having to leave the country,’ [Beck] said.”

We’re outraged that the administration so casually set aside the U.S. Constitution to issue the DREAM Amnesty edict this summer. As we predicted when it was announced that most illegal aliens under age 31 would get work permits, there’s been a surge in new illegal immigration. Word’s out — get to America, stay here long enough, and some politician will give you an amnesty.

This executive branch power grab has to be resisted. Congress must make immigration law, not the president. As you know, two months ago NumbersUSA agreed to pay for a federal lawsuit by 10 ICE agents, including the officers of the ICE agents union, against Janet Napolitano. Now, the state of Mississippi has joined the suit.

The plaintiffs’ aim is to stop the DREAM amnesty in its tracks as unconstitutional and harmful to agents and whole states.

We’ve had huge news coverage of this lawsuit over the past two months. A couple of days ago, Business Week ran an article explaining how and why the ICE agent union president Chris Crane, and some of his fellow officers, were willing to anger the bosses of organized labor by suing the administration over the DREAM amnesty edict. The article also mentions our role:

“NumbersUSA, a group that works to reduce immigration levels and has opposed the AFL-CIO’s push for immigration reform, is funding the lawsuit. Crane’s lawyer is Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, a co-author of Arizona’s punitive immigration law and an immigration adviser to Mitt Romney.”

“Crane’s lawsuit charges that the president overstepped his constitutional authority by changing federal immigration law without Congress’s consent. To obey the president’s orders, Crane says, agents must break the law.”

Stephen, I know you’ve been keeping up with the news about this lawsuit. And I know you are as upset as we are that the administration is ramming through an amnesty over the heads of Congress.

This lawsuit is as expensive as it is necessary. I know the upcoming election has dominated the attention of all of us… and many of our supporters’ giving. But we mustn’t forget this critical immigration issue. Please help us now as we work to keep America in balance.

Please donate today or click https://www.numbersusa.com/donate

I’ve printed the list below a couple of times now. Yet, if you’ve not read the “top 4 reasons the ICE agents sued,” I urge you to do so now.

Top 4 Reasons ICE Agents and State of Mississippi Sued Janet Napolitano

  1. 1. Direct Violation of the Law.
The DREAM Directive orders ICE agents and officers not to put illegal entrants into deportation proceedings, which is a direct violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
  2. 2. Unconstitutional Breach of Duty.
The DREAM Directive is an unconstitutional breach of the Executive branch’s duty to ensure that the laws are faithfully executed — not systematically set aside.
  3. 3. Abuse of ‘Discretion.’
Instead of giving law enforcement officers the ability to do their jobs, the DREAM Directive ties their hands and prevents the officers from removing illegal aliens.
  4. 4. Unauthorized Benefits to Illegal Aliens.
The DREAM Directive makes millions of illegal aliens eligible for government benefits they have no legal right to. They will be given work permits and be allowed to stay at least two years. Only Congress can grant these benefits.

Without this lawsuit, as many as two million illegal aliens will be given work permits, allowing them to compete for jobs with the 20 million Americans who cannot find full-time work. Without the financial support of NumbersUSA, this lawsuit would not have been possible.

3,400 Border Patrol Agents on the Chopping Block
By Janice Kephart
CIS Blog, October 18, 2012

Excerpt: In an amazing untold story reflecting President Obama’s doubletalk on immigration, during Tuesday’s town hall-style debate with Mitt Romney he claimed responsibility for putting more Border Patrol agents on our border than ever before. What he did not say is that come January 2, 2013, the president’s failure of leadership could result in 3,400 Border Patrol agents losing their jobs. Also on the chopping block are 3,400 Customs and Border Protection inspectors, 932 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents, and 802 ICE deportation and removal officers.

We now learn that budget sequestration — which will slash the federal budget by 9.4 percent in 2013 for discretionary defense appropriations and by 8.2 percent in 2013 for discretionary nondefense appropriations — is actually worse than thought. A law passed 14 months ago required another 1.9 percent reduction in 2013 if the Congressional Super Committee failed to come to agreement on a budget, which is exactly what happened.

Thousands of illegal immigrants paying in-state tuition rates also get Texas financial aid
AUSTIN — Tea party conservatives will push next year to rescind a state law that allows illegal immigrants to pay state-resident tuition rates, and when they do, a little-known fact could be at the center of the debate: Students who aren’t citizens are also eligible for state financial aid.
Nearly 2,500 students who are in the country illegally received more than $9.5 million in state higher education grants in fiscal year 2010, the most recent figures available from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. There were 16,476 illegal-immigrant students paying resident tuition rates, meaning more than 1 in 7 get state financial aid as well.
The law allowing both the tuition and the aid has been on the books for a decade, mostly without controversy. But it became a focal point of Gov. Rick Perry’s opponents in the Republican presidential contest last year, and with conservatives rallying to limit benefits for illegal immigrants, some GOP lawmakers will seek to change the law when the Legislature meets starting in January.
“For every dollar that we give to someone who is here illegally, that’s a dollar less that we’re giving to someone who’s here legally,” said Rep. Bill Zedler, an Arlington Republican who says he intends to offer legislation to revoke the benefit.

“Yes” Fly Zone on Border
DHS gives UltraLight free reign
SecureBorderIntel.org — October 21
Violation of US Airspace by Drug Smuggling Aircraft - (Midnight 10/20/2012)

Omaha “Hi-Flier” aircraft detected an UltraLight “bogie” aircraft, 12 miles north of the US/Mexico Border on the Tohono O’odham Reservation, headed northeast. Ultralight aircraft was tracked to a location near Sunland Gin and Ellis Road — 13 miles south of Interstate 8, south of Arizona City… some 60 miles northeast of where the aircraft was first detected.
At this location, the UltraLight aircraft was observed dropping bales of marijuana to individuals on the ground. Responding agents took 3 smugglers and 10 bales of marijuana (approx. 250 lbs) into custody.
There was no apparent effort to interdict or disable the Ultralight aircraft before or after the “drug drop” and it is assumed that it flew back toward Mexico. Sources indicate that it is US Government policy not to interfere with such incursions into US airspace…. only track them to the “drop zone”. Sources also indicate that these incursions occur regularly, with a high frequency of incursions near Douglas, AZ.
Red Dot
Glenn Spencer — American Border Patrol Comment
It would have taken this aircraft more than two hours to make this trip. It could have been carrying a WMD. It should have been intercepted and forced to land.
I was once intercepted by two F-16s, even though I was not a threat.
Technology is available to detect ultralights if our government is serious about protecting us.

Los Angeles to Issue City IDs to Illegal Aliens

The Los Angeles City Council is moving ahead with its so-called “Universal City Services Card,” an official city library ID and debit card that can be used by illegal aliens to open bank accounts and access city services. (LA Times, Oct. 17, 2012) Last week, the City Council’s Arts, Parks, Health and Aging Committee voted to approve a recommendation from the Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa that bids be solicited from third-party vendors to implement the card. (Id.; see also October 15, 2012 Letter from Richard L. Benbow, Los Angeles City Manager, to Arts, Parks, Health and Aging Committee, Los Angeles City Council) The plan could potentially benefit over 300,000 illegal aliens. (LA Times, Oct. 17, 2012)
City Council Member Ed Reyes said the measure is needed to enable illegal aliens to open bank accounts and obtain other city services. (Id.) Under the Patriot Act, however, banks are already permitted to open bank accounts for illegal aliens with as little documentation as a matricula consular card. (P.L. 107-56 § 326, Oct. 26, 2001) Despite the unanimous vote to move ahead with the ID card, not everyone in the Los Angeles City area is pleased with the Council’s efforts. The Granada Hills North Neighborhood Council passed a resolution protesting the City’s plans. The resolution states that “the library should not be turned into Financial Literacy Centers, nor should the city enter into the Debit card business.” (Resolution, Granada Hills North Neighborhood Council)
If Los Angeles adopts the library ID proposal, it will follow in the footsteps of other cities, such as San Francisco and New Haven, that issue city IDs to illegal aliens. (See, e.g., FAIR Legislative Update, July 11, 2011) The ordinances in each city vary somewhat, but have all been used to accommodate the continued residence of illegal aliens in those cities.

WICHITA, Kan. — When Candida L. Gutierrez’s identity was stolen, the thief didn’t limit herself to opening fraudulent credit and bank accounts. She assumed Gutierrez’s persona completely, using it to get a job, a driver’s license, a mortgage and even medical care for the birth of two children.

All the while, the crook claimed the real Gutierrez was the one who had stolen her identity. The women’s unusual tug-of-war puts a face on “total identity theft,” a brazen form of the crime in which con artists go beyond financial fraud to assume many other aspects of another person’s life.
The scheme has been linked to illegal immigrants who use stolen Social Security numbers to get paid at their jobs, and authorities fear the problem could soon grow to ensnare more unsuspecting Americans.
“When she claimed my identity and I claimed it back, she was informed that I was claiming it too,” said Gutierrez, a 31-year-old Houston elementary school teacher. “She knew I was aware and that I was trying to fight, and yet she would keep fighting. MEXICO CITY – State police found an SUV containing “three rockets” that apparently belonged to a criminal organization in Piedras Negras, a border city in northern Mexico, Coahuila Public Safety Secretary Jorge Luis Moran Delgado said.
The live rockets and several grenades were found by Coahuila state police special operations unit officers Saturday in an SUV abandoned by criminals during a chase, Moran Delgado told Milenio Television.
The officers were attacked and the vehicle was damaged when it hit a house, forcing the four occupants to flee on foot, with other gunmen providing them with protection, the state official said.
An inspection of the abandoned vehicle turned up the weapons, Moran Delgado said.
The criminals “managed to recover” a launcher from the SUV, but they left the three rockets behind, the Coahuila public safety secretary said.
The weapons will be turned over to the army for destruction, Moran Delgado said.
Police also found portable radios and batteries in the abandoned SUV, the state official said.
“This is not the first time in Coahuila” that “rockets and rocket launchers” have been used, Moran Delgado said.
The state police’s special operations unit was attacked with two rockets in March, Moran Delgado said, adding that a police vehicle was damaged in the incident.
“We must investigate how it is possible that these types of weapons ended up in the hands of these criminals, how it is possible that they entered the country,” the public safety secretary said.
The Gulf cartel has been battling Los Zetas for control of Coahuila and smuggling routes into the United States.
Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano, the top Los Zetas cartel boss, was killed in a shootout with marines in Coahuila state on Oct. 7.

Aliens vs Blacks and USDA mum on SNAP

How Blacks Are Being Thrown under the Bus by Illegal Immigration

By Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson
President Barack Obama and black leaders are systematically victimizing black Americans!
For the past 22 years, my nonprofit organization, BOND, the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny, has helped hundreds of young men become responsible, hard working adults. These young men have learned to overcome anger, learn trades, and graduate college, and some have started successful businesses.
As a result, I have heard countless stories of blacks being pushed out of their jobs and neighborhoods by the influx of illegal aliens. In Los Angeles and across the U.S., black citizens are forced to compete with illegals for jobs, education, and health care.
To make matters worse, in June, President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order and announced that his administration would no longer deport illegal aliens. Under the new policy, people younger than 30 who came to the United States before the age of 16 and meet certain requirements can get a two-year deferral from deportation.
This policy change is Obama’s way of getting parts of the DREAM Act proposal that he couldn’t get passed in Congress. It essentially gives amnesty to the children of illegals. And on the heels of Obama’s order, UCLA announced that it is partnering with the National Labor College (the academic arm of organized labor) to create the “National Dream University,” which would fund and allow illegal aliens to take online courses through the university.
The Department of Motor Vehicles recently released a statement saying that young people who receive federal deferrals will be eligible for California driver’s licenses. An estimated 400,000 illegals could be getting licenses in California!
