Guatemalan charged in K-9 stabbing

McALLEN — A Guatemalan immigrant went before a federal judge Tuesday to face charges of harming a police animal and illegal reentry.
Luis Gilberto Cruz Solis went before U.S. Magistrate Judge Peter Ormsby, who ordered he remain in custody without bond ahead of a detention hearing later this week.
Cruz is accused of stabbing in the neck “Dinie,” a U.S Border Patrol K-9 as it chased him Sunday morning near Mission, court records show.

for 4 Million Family Immigrants
U.S. would lose numerical control of settlers

WASHINGTON, DC (May 8, 2013) —A little-noticed section of the Schumer-Rubio bill would negate the current immigrant visa waiting list and enable more than one million applicants to be admitted straightaway with work authorization. It would also allow nearly three million more to receive visitor visas soon after enactment.  These admissions would be in addition to new guestworker and permanent admissions programs in the bill, which are expected to total more than 2 million in every year for the next decade.

“The bill sponsors claimed that they would gradually transform our current legal admissions system and phase out the lower priority categories, but what they really do is just immediately allow millions of people to come in through the back door. This provision piles on more admissions to the huge numbers already brought in by the bill.   Where are the jobs?” asks Jessica Vaughan, Director of Policy Studies for the Center for Immigration Studies, who noticed the provision in Section 2308 of the massive document.
