PATRIOTS - Contact both Ellison and Dayton and SAY NO to bringing children here to Minnesota
Immigration debate comes to Minnesota in force

Ellison wants to welcome refugees; others question resources on hand.
The simmering national fight over whether to aid thousands of unaccompanied Central American children who came to the United States illegally is intensifying as more of the children are finding their way to Minnesota.
Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., is leading a push to welcome the children to the state, which could bring in waves of more children and thrust Minnesota to the forefront of this larger and complex national issue.
“We have capacity to help here and we should,” Ellison said Monday at a community meeting at the CLUES center on E. Lake Street in Minneapolis.
But immigration advocates and nonprofit groups that often serve traditional refugees are concerned that Minnesota might not be able to handle a deluge of children needing expensive care and facing complex legal cases.
Alicia Bauers, a case manager for children’s mental health services at Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, said their group often cannot provide basic services for immigrants in the state.
“I’ve had a waitlist for my caseload for two years,” she said. “We want to provide services … but they can’t even get to see me.”
DFL Gov. Mark Dayton is expecting a letter from Ellison and others asking him for state resources, such as shelter, for the children.
“I don’t know what it entails,” Dayton said Monday. “This thing is unfolding rapidly, and the federal response is still being determined. I would have to know where it’d fit in, what it would cost and where we would have sites potentially available.”
Dayton finds himself at the center of an issue many other state leaders are grappling with. Last week, Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts vowed to help temporarily house the migrant children.
The issue has even taken on broader political overtones in the upcoming election, where one of Dayton’s challengers is demanding that the state not lend any assistance.
GOP gubernatorial candidate Scott Honour last week urged Dayton to “let the president know that Minnesota is not the place to send these kids.”
“Before President Obama looks to our state to solve his man-made crisis, it’s time for Governor Dayton to join other Midwestern governors and let the president know it’s time for him to lead.”

A response from one of their readers
Dear Congressman Ellison:
I have just read that you are pushing for the illegal immigrants from Central America to come to Minnesota. I can’t say this strongly enough. NO!! In the first place they are illegal. What part of “Illegal” don’t you understand? You have been quoted as saying, “I’m sure no state in the United States has unused resources just waiting around, but when you have a crisis you step up and do something about it,” I agree. You give them a hot meal. You take care of their immediate need and you SEND THEM HOME! This us such common sense that it baffles me as to how you don’t get that. Either your bleeding heart just can’t follow common sense or you have a sinister desire to overburden your constituents and your State. Either way, welcoming this onslaught of illegals will only result in a further erosion of America. Tell President Obama and Congress to send them back home. Seal the boarder and then we can discuss LEGAL immigration.
House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) discussed the crisis at the border. The congressional leader dismissed the strain on our nations financial resources to care for all the children of the world in troubled areas, saying she believes the U.S. government should look at the children like “baby Jesus,” who she added “was a refugee from violence.”
Pelosi concluded, “I reference the conference of bishops statement in which they say baby Jesus was a refugee from violence. Let us not turn away these children and send them back into a burning building. That’s the bishops, so we have to do this in a way that honors our values but also protects our border and does so in a way that the American people understand more clearly.”
If she thought they would vote republican she would have land mines and barbed wire at the border.

CBO: Only $25 million of Obama’s requested $3.7 billion would be spent in FY2014
Only $25 million of Pres. Obama’s $3.7 billion emergency funding request in response to the illegal-alien border surge would be spent in fiscal year 2014, according to an analysis of the proposal from the Congressional Budget Office. The CBO projected that the $25 million would be spent by the Department of Health and Human Services for the housing, care, and relocation of illegal-alien families, not the Department of Homeland Security that’s tasked with securing the border.
“CBO analysis suggests that only $25 million out of the $4.3 billion request will be spent this year. What does that mean?” Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) asked. “It means we ought to slow down, and there is no
basis to demand a $4.3 billion increase in spending, emergency spending.”
